IAHAIO

Manimalis promotes research, education and sharing of information about human-animal interaction and the unique role that animals play in human well-being and quality of life. Manimalis is a member of the international umbrella organization IAHAIO, International Association of Human-Animal Interaction Organizations.

IAHAIO was founded in 1990 in order to gather national associations and related organizations interested in advancing the understanding and appreciation of the link between animals and humans. At present, members include 21 different national organizations, as well as 15 affiliate members. Creating an association of national organizations is not only intended to exchange knowledge and experience, but also to create a strong platform for political influence.

An International Conference on Human-Animal Interactions is held every three years. The 11th conference will be held in October 2007 in Tokyo, Japan, with "Humans and Animals - Partnership in Harmony" as the theme.
Manimalis has applied to host the next international conference in Stockholm in 2010.
